Content Management

Content management is the administration of digital content throughout its lifecycle, from creation to permanent storage or deletion. The content involved may be text, images, video, audio and multimedia.

The definition of a CMS is an application (more likely web-based), that provides capabilities for multiple users with different permission levels to manage (all or a section of) content, data or information of a website project, internet or intranet application.

Managing content refers to creating, editing, archiving, publishing, collaborating on, reporting, distributing website content, data and information.

As an example, a CMS is a web application that provides the administration, control or management of an online shop, business brochure or blog.
